The Detroit Tigers have not made any major impact in the free agent market this winter. Kenley Jansen remains their biggest addition to the roster besides the deals to keep hold of Gleyber Torres and Kyle Finnegan. With the arbitration showdown and a possible trade for Tarik Skubal looming over, the Tigers’ front office may want to deepen their starting rotation.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Detroit Tigers are among several teams pursuing free agent starting pitcher Lucas Giolito. The 31-year-old right-hander is one of the top starters who are still available on the open market. The opportunity for Gillito to pitch alongside his former high school teammate in the MLB may give the Tigers an advantage in negotiations.

“Detroit Tigers are one of many teams showing interest in free agent starter Lucas Giolito. If he goes there, he’d join his HS teammate Jack Flaherty on a strong staff,” Heyman shared on X this Sunday.
