In December 2025, two fatal officer-involved shootings in Beaumont involving the police have concluded investigations and are set for grand jury review

BEAUMONT, Texas — Texas Rangers have completed investigations into two recent officer-involved shootings in Jefferson County, and the cases are now ready to be presented to a grand jury, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigations involve separate fatal shootings in Beaumont in December 2025, including a Christmas night incident in which a 33-year-old man was shot by police and another case in which a 46-year-old man was killed during an exchange of gunfire with officers.

In the Christmas night shooting, Beaumont police said officers responded at 8:23 p.m. Dec. 25 to a disturbance in the 4400 block of Diamond Street involving a man with a handgun. The caller reported the suspect had broken a glass door and that a woman was bleeding from injuries caused by the shattered glass.

Officers encountered Jordan Bossette, 33, of Beaumont, who was armed with a handgun. “The suspect failed to comply with verbal commands and charged toward the officers armed with the handgun,” police said. “Officers were forced to discharge their weapons.”

Bossette was pronounced dead at the scene, and his immediate family was notified, police said.

Another man involved in the disturbance barricaded himself inside the home, prompting a response from the Beaumont Police Department SWAT team. By 12:40 a.m., negotiators were able to talk him out of the home so the investigation could continue, according to Officer Cesar Beattie. No officers were injured.

The two officers involved remain on administrative leave, which police said is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. Beaumont Police, the Texas Rangers and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office have been working jointly on the investigation.

“The investigation is still ongoing,” police said at the time. “No other information is available at this time.”

The second case stems from a Dec. 12, 2025, incident in which a 46-year-old Beaumont man was fatally shot after firing at officers near Seventh Street and Interstate 10. Beaumont police said officers used lethal force after the suspect shot at them several times near the Seventh Street overpass.

“The suspect started firing shots at officers. Officers returned fire and the suspect was pronounced deceased on the scene,” Beaumont Police Department Public Information Officer Rodrick Williams said. “There was no officer injured.”

Police said officers were assisting Port Arthur police in the pursuit of an armed suspect originating from Port Arthur when the suspect crashed on the I-10 service road near Seventh Street, exited the vehicle and began firing.

Texas Rangers investigators were called in to investigate the shooting, and Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. ordered an autopsy.

Witnesses described fear and chaos during the incident.

“We were all very nervous, worried, scared,” said Tyler Thomas, owner of Manning’s, a business near the scene. “None of us have been through that, so it’s definitely a scary scene for sure.”

Thomas said he saw the crash and heard gunfire lasting “probably anywhere from like 30 to 40 seconds,” adding that some employees’ vehicles were struck by bullets. “They handled everything very professionally,” he said. “Seeing them out there made us feel safe.”

One Beaumont police officer and one Port Arthur police officer involved in the shooting were placed on paid administrative leave, according to department policy.

Both incidents are among multiple officer-involved shootings in Beaumont in 2025. With the Texas Rangers’ investigations now complete, the cases will move forward for review by a Jefferson County grand jury, according to the district attorney’s office.
