Kaiser Permanente buys 7+ acres near Atlanta’s old Turner Field

  • January 28, 2026

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — One of the nation’s biggest healthcare companies has bought 7.2 acres of land near the site of the old Atlanta Braves stadium, Turner Field.

Kaiser Permanente purchased sites at 550 Hank Aaron Drive and 41 Fulton Street for $31.5 million.

Georgia State University has long since retrofitted Turner Field into Center Parc Stadium, where its NCAA Sun Belt Conference football team plays.

Last year, the university gained city approval to redevelop the site of the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium for a new, 3,000-seat college baseball stadium. Construction is expected to be completed this fall.

“The land could be used for a variety of purposes to improve access to care,“ a Kaiser Permanente spokesperson said. ”Kaiser Permanente will engage in a deliberate planning process before finalizing development plans for the site. Community engagement will be a central part of that process, with opportunities for input and dialogue as plans evolve.

This location is about three miles from where the Atlanta Medical Center closed and is currently being demolished.

“While the purchasing of land at Summerhill represents a great first step, a construction timeline has not been established,” the company said.
