Every dog has its day. The Yankees proved that when they found a way to lose to the Rockies on Friday. Some dogs, though, upon receiving their proverbial day, are quickly bullied back into their crates by the much larger dogs they ticked off. Hence, the Bombers’ 10-run fifth inning yesterday to tie the series. Today, they can reinstate top dog status, so to speak, by taking two of three from Colorado and securing their sixth consecutive series win.

Will Warren has been quite the dog on the mound for the Yankees of late, notching career high strikeout totals in back-to-back starts. His last time out he twirled a gem against the Rangers with 10 strikeouts in 5.2 innings, in the process helping to pare down an ERA which sat at 5.63 at the end of April to a far handsomer 4.05. Even though this is his first time pitching at Coors Field, he should have a great opportunity to make his stats look even shinier against a hapless Rockies offense.

The dog days have come early for Antonio Senzatela. The veteran righty has allowed more hits than any other pitcher in MLB this season, an eye-watering 84. His WHIP is just shy of 2 over almost 50 innings. These aren’t just punch-and-judy knocks either—opponents are slugging .570 against Senzatela so far. The Yankees should get plenty of chances to do damage this afternoon.

Even though Senzatela’s a righty rather than a southpaw, Paul Goldschmidt’s back in there at leadoff today after bolstering his 1.022 career OPS at Coors Field with a 3-for-4 day yesterday. Lefty-swinging Ben Rice returns to the lineup at DH batting second, with Trent Grisham heading to the bench in favor of an outfield of Jasson Domínguez, Cody Bellinger, and Aaron Judge. Austin Wells gets the day off after playing a night game and a day game consecutively, with J.C. Escarra stepping in behind the plate. DJ LeMahieu and Oswald Peraza will man the keystone and hot corner, respectively.
