The Milwaukee Brewers will wrap up their four-game set with the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday afternoon, and the series thus far can only be described as disappointing.
Milwaukee won the rain-delayed series opener Thursday night, but they’ve lost a pair of tight affairs the last two nights, losing in extras on Friday and by a 2-1 final on Saturday.
Looking to salvage a series split, they’ll send rookie Logan Henderson to the mound opposite the lefty Bailey Falter.
Henderson has looked fantastic through three MLB starts, picking up a win in all three as he’s allowed just three runs over 16 innings (1.69 ERA) and struck out 23 batters. Falter, 28, is in his third season with the Pirates and quietly putting together the best year of his career. Through 10 starts, he has a 3.50 ERA and 39 strikeouts over 54 innings. He hasn’t allowed more than one run in any of his four May starts, with a sterling 0.38 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 23 2⁄3 innings in that span.
Jackson Chourio moves back into the leadoff spot against the lefty, followed by William Contreras and Christian Yelich, who’s DHing. Rhys Hoskins bats cleanup, followed by the switch-hitting Isaac Collins and lefty Sal Frelick. Caleb Durbin, Brice Turang, and Joey Ortiz round out the lineup and infield.
First pitch is at 12:35 p.m. CT on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
