The New York Mets acquired Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade, and now Peralta will go from one of the smallest markets in baseball to one of the biggest.

Players do not always find success playing for teams like the New York Yankees or Mets. The pressure of playing in a big market can be rough, and Peralta is coming from Milwaukee. However, Peralta is not scared of pitching in Queens. He has pitched in New York before and has pitched in the postseason.

“I’m ready for this,” Peralta said to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.

He is a two-time All-Star coming off his best season in the big leagues. He had a 2.70 ERA last season and finished fifth in the National League Cy Young Award race.

Concerns about Peralta’s play translating into a bigger market are valid. Just last season, Devin Williams went from Milwaukee to New York and had the worst season of his career. Williams was the best closer in baseball with the Brewers, but struggled with the Yankees.

Williams and Peralta are teammates once again, and Williams thinks the one season in the Bronx has gotten him better equipped for next season. Hopefully for the Mets, Peralta does not need a year to adjust.
