BOSTON — With Alex Bregman (tight right quad) out, manager Alex Cora is shaking up his lineup.
Cora has Boston’s hottest hitter, rookie catcher Carlos Narváez, in the cleanup spot for the first time this season.
The Red Sox and Orioles will play the first game of a doubleheader at 1:05 p.m. here at Fenway Park.
Narváez has started in the eighth spot 21 times, the ninth 11 times, the seventh spot twice and the sixth spot once.
The catcher is batting .349 (29-for-83) with a .413 on-base percentage, .602 slugging percentage, five homers, six doubles, 13 RBIs and 16 runs in 24 games since April 18.
Bregman is about to have imaging done on his quad soon. He left Friday’s game in the fifth inning.
Nick Sogard will play third base and bat fifth. Abraham Toro will play first base and bat seventh.
Wilyer Abreu, who has been batting cleanup, will take Bregman’s third spot in the order.
