Reese McGuire has joined the Milwaukee Brewers on a minor-league deal, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports.

The former Toronto Blue Jays catcher will also be invited to spring training.

A 30-year-old native of Seattle, McGuire spent last season with the Chicago Cubs. He appeared in 140 games, batting .226 with 30 hits, nine home runs, 24 runs batted in and an OPS of .688.

The 14th overall pick of the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, McGuire made his big league debut for the Blue Jays in 2018. He was traded by the Jays ahead of the 2022 season to the Chicago White Sox before being flipped to the Boston Red Sox later that year.

In 399 games over eight seasons with the Cubs, Red Sox, White Sox and Blue Jays, McGuire has batted .248 with 267 hits, 25 home runs, 106 runs batted in and a .667 OPS.
