The Minnesota Twins continue to make tweaks to their roster as the 2026 Major League Baseball season approaches. We are just a matter of weeks away from Grapefruit League action getting underway in sunny Fort Myers, Florida.
Derek Falvey still needs to work on the bullpen beyond just the addition of Taylor Rogers. He has added some lineup thump in Josh Bell and Victor Caratini though. With those recent additions, it has been clear that a path to playing time wasn’t going to be there for certain bubble players.

Minnesota determined that was the case for Pierson Ohl, and they just ended Edouard Julien’s tenure too.

Edouard Julien’s Minnesota Twins career is over
When the Minnesota Twins made the Rogers and Caratini moves official, they clear room on the 40-man roster by designating Pierson Ohl for assignment. Rather than grab him on waivers, the Colorado Rockies came calling. They are taking Edouard Julien too.
Pierson Ohl made his major league debut last season and owned a 5.10 ERA (4.20 FIP) in 30 innings. Used as both a starter and middle-reliever, the former 14th round pick had progressed through the system as a nice find.

Similarly to Ohl, Julien was a late round pick (18th) out of Auburn. Originally intending to go back to school, the MN Twins ultimately lured him away.
In 2022 Julien owned a .931 OPS at Double-A, and followed it up by batting .400/.563/.686 in 21 Arizona Fall League games. He debuted in the big leagues during the 2023 season and finished seventh in Rookie of the Year voting.
His initial 130 OPS+ cratered the last two seasons. In 64 games last year he batted just .220/.309/.324 with 10 doubles and three home runs. Either the league adjusted and Julien was unable to do so, or something broke down. As a bad defender with even a questionable fit at first place, there was just no way for Minnesota to keep him.
A former 10th round pick, Jace Kaminska is an intriguing return for the Twins. He has yet to make his MLB debut, and is coming off Tommy John surgery. The 2.78 ERA in 87 1/3 innings at Single-A in 2024 is plenty impressive though. Now 24 years old, Kaminska posted a 104/12 K/BB in his first full professional season.
Jhonny Pereda also traded by MN Twins
Ohl and Julien weren’t the only DFA’d Minnesota Twins on the move of late either. Catcher Jhonny Pereda is headed to Seattle.
Acquired last season from the Athletics in a depth move, Pereda wasn’t a guy long for the major league roster. He filled in after both Ryan Jeffers and Christian Vazquez got hurt, but played in just 11 games.

Pereda has had limited big league run, and is more organizational fodder rather than a building piece at this point. The Minnesota Twins are moving forward with Ryan Jeffers, Victor Caratini, and Alex Jackson as the backstops on their 40-man roster.
