The San Francisco Giants might still have more to do.

They’re part of the highly competitive NL West Division, and they’re coming off a disappointing 2025 season where it felt like they underachieved.

They’ve made additions this offseason already that can help their roster for 2026, including centerfielder Harrison Bader and pitchers Tyler Mahle and Adrian Houser.

But even that feels a bit underwhelming.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports that front office leader Buster Posey “has one more trick up his sleeve.”

Then, Feinsand goes down to suggest it might actually be two.

First, he points to a potential trade that could be in the works.

“Three-quarters of the infield is set with Rafael Devers, Willy Adames and Matt Chapman, but second base remains a need, one that could be filled by a trade for either Brendan Donovan or Nico Hoerner,” Feinsand writes.

Donovan from the Cardinals seems almost certain to move before the season as St. Louis commences on a rebuild.

Hoerner is still a crucial player for the Cubs, but they created a logjam by signing Alex Bregman and may end up taking a deal just to reallocate assets.

Beyond a trade, Feinsand thinks the Giants could use a potential signing to add an arm.

“The Giants would benefit from the addition of more pitching, as well, either in the rotation or the bullpen – or ideally both,” Feinsand writes.

Pitchers and catchers report in February. Posey better get to work.
