Former Seattle Mariners Gold Glover Dylan Moore is reportedly drawing interest this offseason on the free agent market from the Boston Red Sox.
Chris Cotillo of Mass Live said on social media that the two sides have had conversations, but it’s unclear if Moore will actually end up in Boston.

Moore could make sense for Boston as a late-game/platoon option, especially after they lost Rob Refsnyder to the Mariners in free agency. Furthermore, Moore is best suited to play second base, which is the spot where the Red Sox have the most questions entering 2026 after missing out on Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette.
A California native, Moore became an unbelievable success story for the M’s and their player development group. Acquired off the scrap heap, Moore made his major league debut during the rebuilding 2019 season, hitting nine homers in 113 games. He then became an integral part of the 2020 COVID-season Mariners, hitting .255 with eight homers and 12 stolen bases.

His power continued to play in 2021 as he hit 12 homers in 332 at-bats, but his batting average cratered to .181.
Since then, Moore has struggled with his batting averages, never hitting higher than .224 in a single season, but he’s maintained his ability to hit for power and to run. He had three seasons of 21 steals or more in Seattle.
Moore struck out 35.7 percent of the time with Seattle in 2025, eventually getting designated for assignment in August. He latched on with the Texas Rangers for the final 18 games of his season.
Though his time with the Mariners ended with a whimper, Moore really did have a great run. He and J.P. Crawford were the longest-tenured M’s at the time of his release, and it’s very impressive that he was able to carve out a solid role for seven years with Seattle.

Mariners fans have long-liked their utility infielder types, from Willie Bloomquist to Shawn O’Malley, and Moore continued that tradition, but did it better than any of them. As a result, some Mariners fans want to place him on the team’s “50 Greatest Mariners,” list that will come out in August as part of the 50th season celebrations.
I’ll be honest, there’s a strong case for that and it’s going to be close.
With two weeks left until spring training, we could start to get some word on Moore’s future soon.
