Winter weather isn’t something that folks from Atlanta have to worry about too often, but in back-to-back weekends, it looks like Atlanta and its metro areas are going to see some snowfall early Saturday morning and throughout the day.

This has caused the Atlanta Braves organization to cancel Saturday’s ‘Braves Fest’ in preparation for what severe weather may be on the way. The team’s social media made the announcement.

What Is Braves Fest?

Over 76,000 Braves fans across the country claimed tickets to the event, which is supposed to highlight the Braves’ upcoming season and includes player meetups, memorabilia giveaways, and a chance to get autographs.

The current forecasts suggest that the Atlanta area may get one to three inches of snow, which can hinder road conditions and people’s ability to travel, so this is a good call from the Braves organization to cancel the event. They did mention at the bottom of the social media post that the team is still looking forward to celebrating the upcoming season with fans at a later date.

Now that it’s the end of January, Braves regular-season baseball is back in less than two months.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning for north and central Georgia, with a Winter Weather Watch in effect for parts of eastern Georgia and into the Carolinas.

Wind chills in Georgia can approach zero, which is not what Atlanta residents are all that used to.

Either way, everyone in the area where snow can accumulate should stay put on Saturday in order to stay safe.

On Friday, the Braves signed former White Sox starter Martin Perez to a minor league contract.

The Braves had been considered a team to need help in the starting pitching department, and it will be interesting to see if Perez will be a part of the fold in 2026.

Martin Perez is a former All-Star pitcher with the Texas Rangers back in 2022. Injuries have limited him in recent years, but the Braves believe in him enough to give a chance to the 14-year MLB veteran.
