KANNAPOLIS, North Carolina (KOSA) – Midland High alum Jayson Nix spent 7 seasons in Major League Baseball. It was announced on Friday that the former Rockies first-rounder was named the manager of the White Sox Single-A team, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers.
Nix retired from playing in 2015 and became a scout for the Los Angeles Angels in 2017, transitioning to coaching four years later.
Now, he takes over as the manager in Single-A Kannapolis in the White Sox organization.
During his playing career, Jayson Nix played 118 games for Chicago over about a season and a half.
In 2025, Kannapolis missed the Carolina League postseason, finishing with the worst combined record in the South Division over the first and second half of the season.
The 2026 season, under Jayson Nix, starts on April 2.
