Despite plenty of optimism, the San Francisco Giants had an underwhelming 2025 campaign, finishing outside the playoff picture for a fourth year. The pitching staff delivered a strong season, but offensive production, especially from the infield positions, was a clear weakness for the team. Yet the Giants’ front office has not done much in the offseason to fix the issue.
MLB Network Radio host Mike Ferrin feels the San Francisco Giants must improve their offense from the second baseman position, and bringing in Brendan Donovan will help them do that. Ferrin is surprised that they have not already traded for the St. Louis Cardinals slugger despite being a strong contender to land him earlier on during this winter.
“This is why they’ve been on the Brendan Donovan sweepstakes. And if they win this sweepstakes, I think it’d make a significant difference to this team,” Ferrin said on Friday. “They need some offense there.
