(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins and team president Derek Falvey have parted ways as spring training approaches for the club. The team issued a written statement this morning says the two parties have agreed to “mutually agreed” to part ways. Falvey had been with the Twins since 2016 as the chief baseball officer, was promoted to president of baseball operations in 2019 before being elevated to team president last year. The team made the playoffs in four of his seasons overseeing the baseball operation. Twins executive chair Tom Pohlad said in the statement that he and Falvey had has candid conversations in recent weeks and a “leadership transition” was the way to move forward. Falvey said he agreed that this was the “right time” to part ways. Pohlad will oversee the business operations on an interim basis while general manager Jeremy Zoll will oversee baseball operations. Twins pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Fort Myers in less than two weeks.
