The Milwaukee Brewers have big dreams of having an even more successful campaign in the 2026 MLB season despite losing ace Freddy Peralta in a trade with the New York Mets.

Losing Peralta was huge, and Milwaukee will feel his absence.

From an individual standpoint, one player who’s missing Peralta more than most people on the team is catcher William Contreras. The two have worked together numerous times as a battery.

That being said, Contreras has every reason to feel happy these days, largely because of a personal reason.

In an Instagram post by Contreras’ girlfriend (and now fiancée), Nixzali Adames, she shared that they are now engaged. In the video, it appears that Contreras had a beachside proposal to Nixzali, who is also the sister of San Francisco Giants star Willy Adames.

A lighted “Will you marry me” sign adorned with roses was also prominently featured.

“I said YES! 💍♥️  Thank you for coming into my life and staying forever. I love you fatty ♥️,” the English translation of her caption on the post read.

Contreras, Brewers have yet to work out a new contract

Contreras and the Brewers have yet to reach a new contract.

Although Milwaukee has already avoided arbitration with several players earlier this offseason, Contreras has yet to put pen to paper for a new deal.

According to a report by MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, Contreras has filed for a $9.9 million deal, while the Brewers set theirs at $8.55 million.

In the 2025 MLB campaign, Contreras hit .260/.355/.399 with 17 home runs and 76 RBIs through 150 games and 659 plate appearances.
