The Los Angeles Angels have seemingly been content with mediocrity, notching 10 straight losing seasons and not making the playoffs since 2014 despite having arguably one of the greatest players to don a uniform in three-time MVP Mike Trout.

Still a great player, Trout has been limited to 241 games (out of a possible 486) since 2023 due to injuries, which led the Angels to sign veteran outfielder Jose Siri to a minor league contract, according to The Athletic’s Will Sammon. Signing Siri adds more outfield depth in case Trout gets hurt again. 

Siri is primarily a glove-first player whose best position is centerfield — he’s posted eight defensive runs saved — while his bat has never come around. In 1,222 plate appearances, Siri is hitting slightly over the Mendoza line (.200), batting .206 with a career OPS of .663. 

Siri has also shown the ability to steal bases, swiping 45 bags for his career, with a high of 14 in 2022 and 2024.
