The free agent markets for a lot of veteran players have been moving slowly this winter, but now that the top names are coming off the board, the next tiers of players will begin to get offers.

For one former Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays veteran, his free agent market is “moving” with plenty of interest in his services from teams around the league.

According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, the New York Mets, the New York Yankees, the San Diego Padres, and others have begun to show serious interest in free-agent veteran first baseman Ty France.

Mariners, Blue Jays FA 1B drawing serious interest

“… They’ve also talked to Ty France, per source, though France has a robust market,” Cotillo reports. “Mets and Yankees have been involved with him, plus Padre n others. That market is moving.”

France is getting some serious interest this offseason, with the Padres, Mets, Yankees, and Arizona Diamondbacks among other teams showing interest.

The free agent first baseman is 31 years old and coming off a year split between the Minnesota Twins and the Blue Jays.

He had a .257 batting average (.277 with the Blue Jays) last year, posting a .678 OPS (.693 with Toronto) in a down season by his standards.

While he’s not the All-Star that he once was with the Mariners, France is still a solid player worth signing to a free agent deal.

His great defense, combined with good enough hitting make him worth adding to a roster in need of some extra depth. France would be entering his 8th season in MLB, and it could be with his sixth team since making his debut with the Padres in 2019.

France is getting some serious interest this offseason, with the Mets, Yankees, and others expected to compete for the 31-year-old free agent Gold Glove first baseman.
