What to know

The Blue Jays will unveil a statue of Joe Carter’s iconic 1993 World Series walk-off home run at Rogers Centre on July 18, honouring both the 1992 and 1993 championship teams.

The statue is part of the team’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, which also include pregame ceremonies and commemorative giveaways for fans.

The first 15,000 fans at the July 18 ceremony will receive replica ’92 and ’93 World Series rings, and on August 10, the first 15,000 fans will get miniature statues.

The tribute celebrates the Blue Jays’ historic back-to-back championships and follows the team’s 2025 return to the World Series.

One of the most iconic moments in Blue Jays history will soon be celebrated with a statue, as the team prepares to honour Joe Carter’s legendary 1993 World Series walk-off home run, recognizing both the 1992 and 1993 championship teams.

The Blue Jays announced that, as part of celebrating the team’s 50-year history, they will pay tribute to their back-to-back World Series victories in 1992 and 1993. The 1993 championship was the first one won on Canadian soil.

Carter’s historic 1993 World Series home run, one of the most unforgettable moments in baseball history, will now be permanently commemorated with a statue at Rogers Centre, situated between Gates 5 and 6.

The statue is set to be unveiled on Saturday, July 18, during a special pregame ceremony featuring alumni from both championship teams, the Jays said in a news release on Monday.

“My teammates from ’92 and ’93 are a special group, and we all understood what it meant to play for an entire country. We felt such pride wearing the maple leaf on our uniforms,” Carter said in a news release. “Fans embraced us, and we loved them right back. This statue is for the fans.”

The team emphasized that the statue is a tribute to both the 1992 and 1993 teams.

The statue announcement comes just months after the Blue Jays returned to the World Series in 2025 for the first time in more than 20 years, ultimately falling to the L.A. Dodgers.
