This is something of a follow-up to yesterday’s question, where we asked you to tell us what you would consider a successful season for the 2026 Diamondbacks. There were a lot of thoughtful answers – and, it is clear, no real consensus as to what that means. For some it’s “The post-season or bust,” while other people are already looking past a potential lock-out next year, and are thinking towards 2028 and beyond. That’s probably inevitable given the mid-standings position in which the team found themselves. If they’d made the playoffs, repeating would be the clear goal. If they were out of contention, then palpable improvement would be the target. But going off that…
What will be the biggest factor in the 2026 D-backs season?
And before anyone says it, “The number of games they win” is not an acceptable answer. 🙂 I’d like something a little more narrow than that. It could be the performance of a particular player: can Geraldo Perdomo repeat his breakout performance of 2025? Perhaps a specific position: finding people to partner with Corbin Carroll in the outfield. An area of improvement: reducing errors and getting back to sound fundamentals. There are no wrong answers. Well, except for “The number of games they win.” That one is right out!
