MILWAUKEE— One of the first signs of a new Brewers season rolled out of American Family Field Tuesday as the team’s annual Spring Training equipment truck was loaded up and sent to Arizona.
The departure marks the unofficial countdown to baseball season, coming off the Brewers’ third straight division title. The truck left Milwaukee for American Family Fields of Phoenix, where it’s expected to arrive on Saturday.

Brewers President of Business Operations, Rick Schlesinger, says the yearly tradition is always a reminder that baseball is right around the corner.
“We’ve got 20,000 bats, 60 boxes of sunflower seeds, 20 boxes of bubble gum, 20,000 baseballs,” Schlesinger said. “Hundreds and hundreds of uniforms, and jerseys, and helmets. A lot of equipment, a lot of suitcases from some of our player ops, folks who don’t want to bring it on the plane.”

Bernie Brewer and the Famous Racing Sausages were on hand to help with the sendoff as the truck was getting loaded with all the equipment needed for the long trip to Phoenix.
Schlesinger spoke on the excitement that is building up throughout American Family Field for the new season ahead.
“Goal is to bring a World Series championship to Wisconsin,” Schlesinger said. “The players, the front office, the executives, we’re all pumped. The off-season goes by quickly, and there’s a lot of optimism. The teams in our division got better. We’re the multiple defending National League Central champs, so they have to take that from us. I feel really good about the season, really good about the team, and really good about the direction of the franchise.”
