ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – The St. Louis Cardinals began their annual “Truck Day” tradition Monday morning, loading equipment bound for spring training in Jupiter, Florida.
Moving staff packed equipment in the Cardinals clubhouse as part of what has become known as the unofficial start to baseball season. Two and a half trucks will make the two-day drive to Florida this week.
Pitchers and catchers report a week from Tuesday.
Vinnie Rogers, manager of special commodities for the moving company, described the variety of items being transported.
“A lot of the medical equipment, anything that they need to get set up, all the bases, bats, balls, you’re gonna see all the stuff that we’re loading up, all the personal gear, most importantly, are probably the golf clubs for the guys,” Rogers said.
The trucks are scheduled to arrive in Jupiter on Thursday. The moving company said their drivers all sign up to have the honor of escorting the Cardinals gear to spring training.
