The Milwaukee Brewers are taking a chance on a former high school baseball and football superstar.

According to Chris Cotillo of MassLive, outfielder Jordyn Adams signed a minor league contract with the Brewers. He was a first-round pick of the Los Angeles Angels in 2018, turning down an opportunity to play both baseball and football at the University of North Carolina.

As a wide receiver at Blythewood High School in South Carolina, Adams had 54 receptions and 16 touchdowns his senior year. He went hitless in 10 plate appearances with the Baltimore Orioles in 2025.

Brewers’ outfield depth

Adams is a defense-first outfielder, using his speed to his advantage.

“Milwaukee places a lot of emphasis on athleticism and defense in the outfield,” Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors wrote Tuesday. “Adams fits that role as a non-roster depth piece.”

In 83 career plate appearances with the Angels and Orioles, the 26-year-old has 30 strikeouts compared to just three walks. Adams may not make the Opening Day roster, but this will be a fun story to follow during spring training.
