Experience fuels Trojans’ hopes

Experience returns in force for the Beeville Trojans as the program enters the 2026 baseball season with a veteran core that has played together at the varsity level for multiple years.

The Trojans bring back six starters who earned postseason honors a year ago, led by a senior-heavy group that anchors the pitching staff and middle of the lineup.

Senior Tyler Lang returns after being named a first-team all-district pitcher, while fellow senior Davyn Perez, a two-way standout, earned first-team honors in the outfield and will again be counted on both on the mound and at the plate. Behind the dish, senior Luke Roznovsky returns as a first-team all-district catcher, providing leadership and stability for Beeville’s pitching staff.

In the infield, senior BJ Rivas is back at second base after earning first-team honors, while sophomore Jojo Martinez returns after being named second-team all-district at first base. Junior Trip Munoz also returns at third base following a second-team all-district selection.

Additional key returners include senior infielder Damien Vasquez, junior outfielder and pitcher Nick Montoya, sophomore pitcher and infielder Eric Willow, and senior outfielder Joseph Perez, all of whom are expected to play important roles throughout the season.

One of the top newcomers expected to make an immediate impact is sophomore Cain Salinas, a pitcher and outfielder who adds depth and versatility to the Trojans’ roster.

Co-head coach Abel Costilla said the foundation for the season rests on the group’s experience and chemistry.

“We will need to rely on our experience,” he said. “These older ballplayers have been on varsity together for four years now, so they will lead the way. But the young ballplayers we have will need to step up if we want to make a run. Simply, we need to throw strikes and score runs. The rest will work itself out.”

The Trojans open the season on Feb. 14 with the annual Alumni Game at 6 p.m.
