11-year MLB veteran David Peralta announced his retirement from Major League Baseball on Wednesday. The left-handed Venezuelan slugger was most known for his nine-year stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2014 to 2022.
The longtime MLB outfielder also played for the Rays, Dodgers, and San Diego Padres. He had not been with an MLB team in 2025, and last saw at-bats with the Padres in 2024. He finishes with a career .278 average over 1,232 games and 125 home runs. His lifetime OPS+ finishes slightly above average at 108.
As with all retirements, Heavy on Sports wishes David Peralta well in his post-baseball ventures.

David Peralta’s Career At A Glance
David Peralta was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals as a left-handed pitcher out of Venezuela in 2004, but his control issues and a couple of shoulder injuries helped transition him into a position player. He became an outfielder after that and broke into MLB in 2014 with Arizona.
In his nine seasons with Arizona, Peralta was named a Silver Slugger in 2018 and received a Gold Glove in 2019. He led the NL in triples twice and hit 30 home runs in his SS season. He also hit 110 home runs with the D-backs. His first full season is arguably his best season as a pro, where he hit 26 doubles, 10 triples, and 17 home runs in 149 games en route to a 3.6 bWAR for the 2015 season.
During his last two seasons with the Dodgers and Padres, he hit just 15 home runs in over 200 games, and his age had started to become a factor in the field.
Peralta retires at the age of 38.
