The Cincinnati Reds brought Eugenio Suarez back.

He had developed into an impressive slugger with the Reds, and in free agency, they got Suarez to return on a one-year, $15 million contract.

It’s meaningful for a lot of reasons.

The basic baseball fact is that the Reds needed a power hitter, and Suarez hit 49 home runs last season.

They’ll figure out whether he plays third base or first base or designated hitter, but that’s to worry about in the spring.

The best part of his return might actually be the adorable explanation of what this means to Suarez’s daughter.

Shared by Nati Sports on X, this is the story:

“Eugenio Suarez said that even when he left Cincinnati, his daughter, whom was born in Cincinnati, remained a Reds fan & was cheering for the Reds even while he was with other teams. He said that she cried when they told her they were ‘coming back home.'”

Suarez played with the Reds form 2015 through 2021.

In his seven seasons in Cincinnati, Suarez belted 189 home runs.

He had his first career 49-homer season with the Reds in 2019.

Now, Suarez will follow up his second career 49-HR season by rejoining the Reds. He’s hoping to make it a fun homecoming for himself, and for his daughter.
