The Boston Red Sox promotional schedule at Fenway Park is always fun for fans, and it always features some must-have items for collectors. But did you know that there are must-haves for Red Sox fans in promotional giveaways at the minor league level too?
How about this one? The Hartford Yard Goats, who are the Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, are having a David Ortiz bobblehead night on May 28.

The bobblehead commemorates Ortiz’s time with the New Britain Rock Cats, who were the Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins when Ortiz played there in 1997. He hit .322 for New Britain with 14 homers and 56 RBIs.
For extra fun? The jersey uses the term “Hartford Rock Cats.”
After Ortiz got to the big leagues with the Twins and Red Sox, he became one of the best left-handed hitters to ever live. A 20-year veteran, Ortiz was a .286 lifetime hitter with 541 homers and 1,768 RBIs.
He was a 10-time All-Star and a three-time World Series champion (2004, 2007 and 2013). He led the American League in RBIs three times and homers once. He won seven Silver Slugger Awards and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.

The Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Red Sox, are hosting a Women in Sports Night which will feature a talking Emma Tiedemann bobblehead. That will happen on Aug. 21.
Tiedemann is the broadcaster for the Sea Dogs, and she gave her reaction to MLB.com:
When asked for her reaction to her impending bobblehead immortalization, Tiedemann responded with a mixture of self-effacement and seriousness.
“I mean, no one grows up wanting to be a bobblehead, so it’s a huge honor,” she said, speaking from Major League Baseball’s headquarters after participating in a National Girls and Women in Sports Day panel.

“But all jokes aside I think it’s a really special thing. … Any way that we can showcase that broadcasting could be an avenue for a little girl in Maine, or really anywhere in the country, to take on one day is really cool to see. Maybe she’ll get a bobblehead and want to be a broadcaster.”
