The Philadelphia Phillies have been predicted to lose a key player to a hated rival.

The Philadelphia Phillies have not been able to put together the kind of offseason that fans were hoping to see from them so far.

To begin the MLB free agency period, the Phillies were able to take care of their No. 1 priority. Bringing back Kyle Schwarber was a must for Philadelphia and that was done quickly. However, the rest of the offseason has been mediocre.

After another postseason heartbreak last year, the Phillies needed some help. Whether or not they have done enough to change the outlook for next season remains to be seen.

That being said, there is still time for Philadelphia to make more moves. There are still quality free agents available and there are also some intriguing options on the trade market for the Phillies to consider looking into.

One potential trade target has been suggested for Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Phillies Could Consider a Trade with the New York Yankees

FanSided’s Christopher Kline has come up with an extremely interesting trade option for the Phillies. He suggested the team make a move for Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez.

At one point in time not that long ago, Dominguez was one of the hottest up-and-coming young players in baseball. He was expected to turn into a star in New York.

Obviously, that has not happened yet. Dominguez has not been able to carve out a consistent role with the Yankees. After the team signed Cody Bellinger to a long-term contract in free agency, his future is very much in doubt in New York.

Kline’s suggested trade would send Dominguez to Philadelphia in exchange for right-handed pitcher Jean Cabrera and right-handed pitcher Zach McCambley. Cabrera is ranked No. 11 in the Phillies’ organization, while McCambley is ranked No. 30.

On the outside looking in, it’s a trade that could help Philadelphia’s lineup take a big step in the right direction if Dominguez develops to reach his ceiling.

What Would Jasson Dominguez Bring to the Phillies?

Dominguez is a completely unproven commodity. No one knows what kind of MLB future he has in front of him.

Despite the unknowns, the talent is obvious. There is a reason that Dominguez was one of the most talked about young players in baseball just a couple of years back.

So far in his Major League career, Dominguez has played in 149 games with the Yankees. He has hit 16 home runs to go along with 58 RBI and a slash line of .248/.327/.397. Dominguez has also stolen 29 bases.

At the very least, Dominguez would bring huge upside to the Phillies. He could be the missing outfield piece that Philadelphia was searching for last season.

Of course, every trade comes with its fair share of risk. Acquiring Dominguez would be no different for the Phillies. However, making a move for the potential that the young outfielder possesses would be a wise risk to take.
