Despite protest from fans, the Dodgers still plan to continue the tradition of visiting the White House following a championship
The Los Angeles Dodgers plan to attend the White House in honor of winning the 2025 World Series in seven games against the Blue Jays, continuing the tradition. No official date has been decided on when the Dodgers will visit, but a White House representative told the New York Post they have been in contact with the administration.
The Dodgers visited the White House last year after winning the 2024 World Series and in 2021 under the Joe Biden administration after winning the 2020 World Series.
“The White House is an incredible honor to get to go see, regardless of who’s in office,” former Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw said after the 2025 visit. “We went in 2021. We went this time. I know there’s been a lot of stuff about, should the Dodgers go? All this stuff. But at the end of the day, getting to go to the White House, getting to see the Oval Office, getting to meet the president of the United States, that’s stuff that you can’t lose sight of no matter what you believe.”

There was speculation about whether the Dodgers would still visit the White House from fans due to the ICE raids that have occurred in Los Angeles. The Dodgers reportedly denied ICE agents access to Dodgers stadium in June — but ICE and DHS denied being there — and donated $1 million during the summer to families affected by immigrations raids.
Following the Dodgers winning the 2025 World Series, the immigrant rights group National Day Laborer Organizing Network created a petition online, asking the Dodgers not to visit the White House.
“The team represents our neighborhoods, our families, and our shared love for our diverse communities,” the group wrote. “But right now, our community, our city are under siege, we need them to stand with us, on the right side of history.”
During the 2019 season under the first Trump administration, Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts said if the Dodgers were to win the World Series — which they didn’t — he likely wouldn’t go to the White House. Six years later, he’s had a change of heart as he said he’s going to the White House regardless of who’s in office.

“I am going to continue to try to do what tradition says and not try to make political statements because I am not a politician,” Roberts said.

Shortstop Mookie Betts skipped the White House visit when he won the 2018 World Series with the Red Sox, but visited in 2021 and 2025. Two players who didn’t visit the White House last season were first baseman Freddie Freeman, who missed because he was nursing an ankle injury, and pitcher Brusdar Graterol, for whom it was never confirmed why he didn’t attend, though he was on the 60-day IL at the time of the visit.
