Team Summary: Brazil returns to the WBC for the first time since 2013, when it went 0-3 but nearly knocked off Japan in its first game of pool play. It punched its ticket to the 2026 World Baseball Classic by beating Germany 6-4 in a winner-take-all qualifier final.

Top Players: Brazil’s two most impactful hitters in its WBC qualifier were 35-year-old Leonardo Reginatto, who also played on the team’s 2013 WBC team, and Dante Bichette Jr., the one-time Yankees farmhand and brother of Bo Bichette. Reginatto hit a career-high 16 homers in 2025 playing in the Mexican League. Righthander Eric Pardinho once ranked among the Top 100 Prospects in baseball in 2019, but injuries have waylaid the 25-year-old, who has stalled out in Triple-A. Brazil’s roster is one of extremes. It has the third-oldest player in the event—40-year-old righthanded pitcher Tiago Da Silva—but also three of the four youngest: Joseph Contreras, Pietro Renzo and Enzo Hayashida.

Best Prospects: Contreras’ inclusion is fascinating. The son of MLB pitcher Jose Contreras, Joseph is the youngest player in the WBC field and is a high school senior at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Georgia. He has legitimate first-round upside, ranking 34th in Baseball America’s preseason draft rankings. Contreras can run his 92-96 mph fastball up to 98, throws a vulcan-grip forkball and also has a mid-80s slider that flashes plus. He’s a Vanderbilt commit.
