Former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Mike Clevinger has signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to reports.
Clevinger, 35, signed a minor league contract with an invite to the Pirates’ spring training camp this month.
Clevinger spent the past three seasons with the Chicago White Sox. Most recently, he pitched in eight games for the White Sox at the beginning of the 2025 season, recording a 7.94 ERA in 5.2 innings pitched in relief. He spent the majority of the season at Triple-A Charlotte, where he posted a 7-3 record, 4.20 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 22 starts.
Prior to Chicago, Clevinger played two seasons for the San Diego Padres, and his first four-plus MLB seasons with the Guardians from 2016-20.
In August 2020, Clevinger was traded with Greg Allen and Matt Waldron from Cleveland to San Diego in exchange for Josh Naylor, Austin Hedges, Cal Quantrill, Owen Miller, Gabriel Arias and Joey Cantillo.
In nine MLB seasons, Clevinger has a 60-44 record, 3.55 ERA and 822 strikeouts in 809.2 innings pitched over 164 games, including 142 starts.
