Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Brock Stewart revealed he fell asleep during the Dodgers’ marathon win against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 3 of the 2025 World Series.
Stewart watched the game at home on the east coast in Charlotte, and missed the majority of the extra innings thriller.
“I was on the couch, then I was like ‘Oh I’ve got to go lay down,’” Stewart said. “…So I was watching the game on my phone in bed and the 12th inning or whatever rolls around and I fall asleep. I fall asleep with my phone on my chest, still playing, still loud from the volume of the broadcast.
“I wake up, like, two hours later and I pull up my phone and the game literally just ended. I’m seeing the on-field celebration from Freddie’s homer.”

Game 3 of last year’s World Series tied the record for the longest World Series game, lasting until the eighteenth inning.
The Dodgers’ bullpen held strong throughout the match, with an especially memorable performance from Will Klein, who pitched four scoreless innings to give the Dodgers a chance.
Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 18th inning to end the game and give the Dodgers a 2-1 series lead.

Stewart came back to L.A. at the trade deadline in 2025 after spending a few years away from the Dodgers. Los Angeles originally drafted him in 2014, and he pitched for the big league club from 2016-19.
He made four appearances for the Dodgers after coming back to the NL West, but landed on the injured list with right-shoulder inflammation and missed the remainder of the regular season.
Through his four appearances, Stewart had a 4.91 ERA in 2025.
The Dodgers don’t have an exact timeline for Stewart, but he is more than likely to return to pitch in 2026. He is expected to make his comeback in the first half of the season. With a bullpen short on quality right-handed arms, the Dodgers will hope Stewart can bounce back from his injury and perform how he did before L.A. traded for him.
