Team Summary: Mexico was so close to one of the best Cinderella runs in WBC history, but fell short in the 2023 semifinals to Japan, the eventual winner. While its roster is constructed with MLB presence, Mexico faces a tough challenge to return to the semifinals this year. Still, there’s a history of upsets against strong baseball nations, and Mexico could get hot at the right time.

Top Players: Alejandro Kirk is a Mexican baseball legend in the making. The Blue Jays catcher is a two-time all-star and a Silver Slugger. He became the first Mexican-born catcher to appear in—and homer in—the World Series. Born in Cuba but attaining Mexican citizenship, Randy Arozarena is a proven two-way WBC performer. He hit .238/.334/.426 with 27 home runs and 76 RBIs for the Mariners in 2025 and will team up with Jarren Duran in an exciting outfield mix. Another Mariner, Andres Muñoz, had one of the best years ever for a Mexican reliever by collecting 38 saves with a 1.73 ERA.

Best Prospects: Jared Serna sits right outside the Marlins’ Top 30 Prospects. In 2025, he hit .223/.305/.277 with three home runs and 28 RBIs in Double-A Pensacola.
