Entering the MLB offseason, there were some rumors and rumblings that the New York Yankees could consider parting ways with Jazz Chisholm.

Chisholm’s contract is set to end following the 2026 MLB season. That will make the Yankees decide whether or not they see a long-term future between them and the talented second baseman.

Despite the rumors about the two sides potentially parting ways, Chisholm remains on the roster. New York appears comfortable heading into the season with him as a key part of their World Series hopes. That could all change, but for now no move has been made.

With that being said, Yankees manager Aaron Boone recently spoke out about Chisholm. He offered some bizarre comments about the 28-year-old infielder.

Strange Comments from Yankees Manager Aaron Boone About Jazz Chisholm

During an appearance on the “The Show” podcast, Boone revealed his interesting comments.

“We have some interesting talks in my office from time to time,” Boone said. “The reality is I just demand a lot out of him because he’s capable of so much. It’s on us to just make sure he’s focused on going out there and being the best version of himself.”

Granted, those comments in and of themselves are not overly concerning. However, the term “interesting talks” suggests that they aren’t pleasant conversations. Instead, it sounds like Boone and Chisholm might be bumping heads during those moments.

Regardless, Chisholm has not tried to force his way out of New York. It has also become apparent that the Yankees are not in a rush to trade him away.

Perhaps these are just some strange comments that shouldn’t be read into. Or, could they become a factor to keep an eye on as the season progresses and the trade deadline draws closer? Only time will tell, but it gives fans reason for curiosity.

What to Expect from the Yankees & Jazz Chisholm in 2026

Ahead of the upcoming 2026 MLB season, RotoWire has released their projections for what to expect from Chisholm.

At this point in time, they are projecting that the second baseman will hit 28 home runs to go along with 77 RBI and a .246 batting average. Their projections also have Chisholm swiping 33 bases.

New York has faced some criticism for its lack of an aggressive offseason. While the Yankees were able to re-sign star outfielder Cody Bellinger to a five-year, $162.5 million contract, there were no other big splash additions.

Keeping that in mind, Jim Bowden of The Athletic has given New York a “C” grade for its offseason. In addition, he has predicted that the Yankees will finish the 2026 season in second place behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East race.

It will be interesting to see if New York can prove the doubters wrong about the offseason it had. Also, fans will be intrigued to see what Chisholm’s future with the Yankees ends up being.
