Former Los Angeles Dodgers all-star Yaisel Puig faces up 15 years in prison stemming from two separate charges related to an illegal gambling operation.

On Friday, Puig was found guilty of lying to federal law enforcement officials about bets on sporting events that he placed with an illegal gambling operation. He was found guilty on one count of obstruction of justice and one count of making false statements.

He faces a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison for the obsruction of justice charge and an additiaonl five years in prison for the false statment charge.
He is currently free under his own personal recognizance.
A sentence hearing is schedule for May 26, where Puig will learn his fate.
Puig made his MLB debut on June 3, 2103 with the Dodgers, and become one of the city’s most beloved sports figures for his brash style of play and power at the plate. He was an all-star with Dodgers in 2014.
