Tampa, FL – The Tampa Bay Rays released new renderings showing a proposed Tampa ballpark and surrounding mixed use district as plans move forward for a potential new stadium site.
The Tampa Bay Rays have released new renderings offering the public a clearer look at a proposed ballpark and surrounding development that could serve as the team’s future home in Tampa.
The images depict a modern baseball stadium designed to anchor a large scale mixed use district near the Hillsborough College Dale Mabry campus, not far from Raymond James Stadium.
Ryan Gorman and Dana McKay cover this story and more on The Ryan Gorman Show:
Team officials said the renderings represent an early design concept and are intended to illustrate how a new ballpark could integrate with housing, retail, dining, entertainment, and public spaces.
According to the Rays, the proposed stadium would seat roughly 30,000 fans and be part of a broader redevelopment spanning more than 100 acres.
The surrounding district is envisioned as a year round destination rather than a venue used only on game days, with pedestrian friendly areas and open gathering spaces included in the concept.
Team leadership said the release of the renderings marks a significant step in the planning process, but emphasized that the designs are not final.
Officials said the project will continue to evolve as additional studies are completed and as feedback is gathered from residents, local leaders, and stakeholders.
The Rays currently play at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg under a lease that runs through at least the 2028 season.
Discussions about a new stadium have intensified in recent years as the team explores long term options for remaining in the Tampa Bay region.
Local and state officials have expressed interest in continuing conversations about the project, though funding details and timelines have not been finalized.
The Rays said further public engagement and negotiations are expected as planning moves forward and the feasibility of the proposed site is evaluated.
