CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina right-hander Cameron Flukey has been named to the 2026 Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, adding another national honor to an already decorated offseason.
The Golden Spikes Award, presented annually by USA Baseball, recognizes the top amateur baseball player in the country and is widely regarded as the sport’s most prestigious individual award.
Flukey’s inclusion on the preseason watch list follows a dominant 2025 season and an extensive run of national recognition entering 2026. The junior right-hander has earned 2026 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year honors and has been selected to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Team. He has also been named the 2026 Baseball America Preseason Pitcher of the Year and earned unanimous selection to the Baseball America Preseason First Team All-America.
In addition, Flukey has collected D1Baseball Preseason First-Team All-America honors, Perfect Game Preseason First-Team All-America recognition, Perfect Game Preseason Pitcher of the Year accolades, and a spot on the Perfect Game Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Team. He has also earned First Team All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
During the 2025 season, Flukey appeared in 18 games with 17 starts, posting an 8-2 record and a 3.19 ERA across 101.2 innings pitched. He struck out 118 batters while holding opponents to a .209 batting average and recorded a complete-game shutout against Marshall on April 18. Flukey was a key presence throughout the postseason, logging 22.0 innings with 25 strikeouts during NCAA Tournament play, including 10.0 innings and 12 strikeouts at the College World Series in Omaha.
Widely regarded as one of the premier pitchers returning to college baseball, Flukey has consistently appeared on national watch lists and preseason projections entering the 2026 season.
The Golden Spikes Award watch list will be narrowed throughout the season, with the midseason watch list announced April 2, followed by semifinalists on May 14 and finalists on June 10. The winner will be announced June 29 during the Golden Spikes Award presentation on MLB Network.
Coastal Carolina begins the 2026 season as the No.6 ranked team by D1Baseabll. They’ll open the season at home against Fairfield on Friday, Feb.13.
