The Philadelphia Phillies continue to stockpile arms for more competition in their bullpen. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Phillies are bringing back veteran Lou Trivino on a minor league deal that includes an invitation to spring training.
Lou Trivino’s Path Back to Philadelphia
Trivino came over to the Phillies in August after being designated for assignment by the Dodgers. In addition to the Dodgers and Phillies, Trivino spent time with the San Francisco Giants in 2025.
A Look at Trivino’s 2025 Performance
Overall, he appeared in 47 games with the three teams, notching a 4.00 ERA in 47.2 innings pitched, striking out 37 batters. With Philadelphia, he appeared in 10 games with a 2.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in nine innings pitched, striking out eight.
The veteran saved 32 games over two seasons in Oakland with the A’s in 2021-2022, so he does offer some late inning expereince in a pinch.
Analyzing the Crowded Phillies Bullpen Competition
He joins a crowded group of arms in the Phillies bullpen, competing for roles this spring. The team has closer Johan Duran and new setup man Brad Keller, along with lefties Jose Alvarado and Tanner Banks. Orion Kerkering returns, along with a plethora of veteran arms, including Daniel Robert, whom the team resigned earlier this week.
