MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Williamson High School baseball field suffered significant damage today after mowers set the grass on fire, according to the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.

Fire officials said crews responded to the school on Dublin Street about 1:09 p.m.
Utility crews were mowing the area when sparks from the mowers ignited the tall grass, the MFRD said.
Fire crews put out the grass fires.
The school and surrounding structures were not threatened by the fires, but the baseball field suffered significant fire damage, the MFRD said.
