The St. Louis Cardinals are in the middle of a huge rebuild that has included multiple trades over the course of the last year. They’ve traded players like Brendan Donovan, Sonny Gray, and Ryan Helsley, among others, as they transition to a new era in St. Louis.
As a result, the farm system looks better than ever for the Cardinals. They’re going to need to build their roster by developing their young players into stars.
Earlier this week, the Cardinals’ farm system got even better as they claimed versatile slugger Bryan Ramos off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles, per MLB’s transaction log.

Ramos has star potential, which makes him one of the more intriguing waiver claims of the offseason.
The 23-year-old can play a few different spots in the infield, as well as doubling as an outfielder if needed.
At the big league level, Ramos has struggled, but he’s only been given 36 games and 111 at-bats to prove himself. In his minor league career, his OPS is over .750.
Last season, Ramos struggled a bit, but his power didn’t slump. He clubbed 16 home runs in 371 at-bats at the Triple-A level. If he can get back to making consistent contact again, the young infielder should see his home run total eclipse 20 or 25 in the Cardinals’ minor league system.
