Former outfielder Terrance Gore has tragically died at age 34, MLB announced Saturday.
An eight-year MLB veteran, Gore made a career out of his outstanding base-running ability. He had only 85 regular-season plate appearances with the Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs and New York Mets, but nabbed 43 stolen bases. It’s a historic feat considering no other MLB player has cleared 40 stolen bases with under 100 plate appearances.
Gore’s speed counted when it mattered most as he helped the Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves win the World Series. You could always depend on Gore using his wheels for big plays when the playoffs rolled around.
According to the New York Post, Gore’s wife, Britney Gore, revealed on social media that Gore died during “what was supposed to have been a simple procedure.”
MLB and the teams Gore played for quickly took to social media to express their condolences.
