The Major League Baseball family was rocked by some devastating news on Saturday after it was reported that former Kansas City Royals outfielder Terrance Gore had passed away at just 34 years of age.
Gore, who was known during his career for his elite speed, passed away after complications from a routine surgery. He is survived by his wife, Britney, and three children.
Shortly after the news was released, the Royals took to social media to share a brief statement about Gore’s passing.
“We are heartbroken from the loss of Terrance Gore, and send our love to his family and loved ones,” the statement read.
Major League Baseball Share Statement About Terrance Gore
Since the news of Gore’s death has gone out, a lot of posts have been coming out in his honor. Major League Baseball took to social media to share its own statement about his death.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Terrance Gore,” the statement began.
“A member of the back-to-back AL champion and 2015 World Series champion Kansas City Royals, Gore played eight Major League seasons in all from 2014-2022. He also appeared for the Cubs, Dodgers, Braves, and Mets. The speedy outfielder and pinch-running specialist stole 43 bases in his regular season career while only being caught nine times. He was 5-for-6 in Postseason stolen base attempts and stole 324 bases in 11 Minor League seasons. Gore was 34 years old.”
Gore played in 110 games throughout his professional career. In those appearances, he stole 43 bases and was caught stealing nine times. He recorded a career slash line of .216/.310/.270.
Speed was the main facet of Gore’s game that kept him in the big leagues. He was one of the most feared base-runners in baseball. Gore also possessed an electrifying personality and was loved in the clubhouse by his teammates.

It has become very clear quickly how many people loved Gore. Even though he was never a “star,” he made a very clear impact.

A Royals fan chimed in, “It’s a sad day to be a Royals fan. RIP Terrance Gore thank you so much for the memories of that 2015 WS run, you will be missed.”
“So incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Terrance Gore. Forget about the speed and more career World Series rings than RBI’s – he was a kind, wonderful man. Only 34. Hurts bad,” a third post said.
Another social media post read, “Devastated to hear the news. I was fortunate to work with Terrance in 2022 with the Mets and his energy, joy, and friendship had a great impact from the day he arrived. We kept in touch since then as he dedicated his time to developing youth baseball. I will miss him greatly.”
