Evan Carter was known as “The Little Savior” when he came for the Rangers during the 2023 season and helped them win the World Series.

In this run, Carter produced a .306/.413/.645 with five home runs and 12 RBIs in just 23 games.

He has not been able to recapture that magic in the past two years.

Carter struggled badly in 2024 with a slash line of .188/.272/.361 with five home runs and 15 RBIs.

He took a step in the right direction in 2025 with a .247/.336/.392 with five home runs and 25 RBIs.

There have been a few things that have held Evan Carter back, but he could play a big part for the Rangers in 2026.Struggles

His 2024 and 2025 seasons have been filled with struggles and injuries. He has only played 108 games out of a possible 324. He dealt with a back injury that derailed his 2024 season, and in 2025, he dealt with a quad strain, back spasms, and a fractured wrist, which ended his season.

It is well-documented that Carter struggles against left-handed pitchers. Even in 2023, he couldn’t manage to get a hit off a leftie and was used as a platoon player. 2024 was his best year against lefties, and he hit .111 with two RBIs against them. He struggled more in 2025, posting a .087 average and 1 RBI.

The injuries are unfortunate, and they do not seem like a long-term concern as long as his back continues to hold up. The Rangers and Carter just need to hope that he can avoid this bad luck and stay healthy.

The biggest positive about Carter is that he is just 23 years old and has not played more than a full season’s worth of games in his career. This leaves plenty of room for him to grow.

Carter is also an asset even when his offense is slumping, as he put up four outs above average last year. He has also been in the top 90th percentile in sprint speed every year that he has been in the league.

Carter also had a great stretch in 2023, during which he was one of the Rangers’ best players. He also kills righties as he hit .365 against them in 2023.

Carter is a young player who was a highly rated prospect, and he has a great eye. He could figure it out.

Takeaway

Carter is a really talented ball player who has dealt with injuries and struggles.

If he can put the injuries behind him and play a healthy season, he can put it all behind him.

If he can figure it out, then he will be a huge piece for the Rangers this year and moving forward.
