The Houston Astros are still needing to make major changes as a team after they missed the playoffs last season. One way in which they can do so is by making trades to continue to modify the team.

The way that the Astros can get value is by looking to trade Jake Meyers as there are multiple teams still in need of outfield help as the MLB season gets closer.

A team that could look to trade for Meyers is the Detroit Tigers.

The Detroit Tigers have some major moves they need to be making throughout the rest of the offseason if they wish to capitalize on their contending window while they still have Tarik Skubal as their star pitcher. One area of the team that the Tigers must need to look to upgrade is their outfield.

While they have Parker Meadows as their centerfielder, he has dealt with nerve issues that led to him missing multiple months last season. That is something the Tigers can’t afford to be the case again this season when they need their outfield to perform at a high level.

Jake Meyers would provide the exact boost that the Tigers need from their outfield. Last season, Meyers hit .292/.354/.373 with a career-best walk rate of 8.1%, and career-low strikeout rate of 17.6%.

Meyers could’ve had better production but he missed time with his own injury from July through September. This led to Meyers seeing his production dip heavily upon his return as he had just a slash line of .204/.271/.204. Prior to his injury he had a .308/.369/.405 slash line.

When Jake Meyers is fully healthy, he can be the exact outfielder the Tigers need, as he is a player that makes contact consistently, and is a great defensive player. With being just five years into his career, he has more upside to be unlocked that the Tigers can bank on unlocking upon trading for him.
