Get Luke Weaver a new bag, for crying out loud.
One of the New York Mets‘ new additions showed up for spring training on Monday, which of course makes sense. Except for one part: He was carrying all his equipment in a New York Yankees bag.
Weaver pitched for the Yanks last season, but it’s probably time to outfit him with some Mets equipment.

Of course, Weaver doesn’t mean anything by this. He just had his baseball stuff in that bag, so it’s what he brought.
Almost surely sometime this week, he’ll be given a Mets equivalent and get to dump out the Yankees one.
The Mets are certainly more concerned with Weaver pitching well than what kind of apparel he has.
Last season, Weaver appeared in 64 games for the Yankees, saving eight, and had a 3.62 ERA.

The year prior, Weaver had a 2.89 ERA for the Yanks. He struck out 10.6 batters per nine innings in his Yankees tenure.
Weaver joined the Mets to bolster a bullpen that lost Edwin Diaz, and he’ll team up with Devin Williams, who also left the Yankees for the Mets this offseason in free agency.
If Weaver and Williams are at their best, the Mets will still have a strong bullpen. They certainly seem likely to pitch often enough to earn a new bag.
