The Toronto Blue Jays have had an excellent offseason. The front office has been busy nearly all winter long, filling holes with free agent deals, mainly focusing on the pitching.

They signed SP Cody Pnce to a three-year deal, and also signed Dylan Cease to a seven-year deal, their biggest splash of the offseason.

However, it did not stop there. They also acquired RP Chase Lee in a trade with the Detroit Tigers, signed RP Tyler Rogers to a three-year deal, and signed 3B Kazuma Okamoto to a four-year deal.

Proposed Blue Jays trade sends lefty swingman to the Angels

With a starting group of Dylan Cease, Kevin Gausman, Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, Cody Ponce, and Jose Berrios, lefty Eric Lauer could get lost in the mix. He could come out of the bullpen as he has done in the past, or Toronto could look at trading him and getting some value in return.

Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly believes Toronto could get a deal done with the Los Angeles Angels here.

“A team like the Angels, for example, could add Lauer. Let’s face it, they are going to need more than their five projected starters this season. Grayson Rodriguez is returning after missing the entire 2025 season, and Alek Manoah has pitched just 111.2 innings on thje majors since he was an All-Star in 2022.”

The Angels could desperately need some starting pitching depth with the questions surrounding both Grayson Rodriguez and Alek Manoah. Adding a starting pitcher they can depend on, and could move to the bullpen if they need to, makes a ton of sense for L.A.

The Halos also have the farm system to get a deal done. George Klassen, a high-strikeout right-handed pitching prospect, could be enough. He fits Toronto’s target profile well, and could work his way to being a big part of the future rotation.
