It was a Jimmy Eat World week for the Dodgers, who split six games against the Diamondbacks and Mets, bookended by losses and the bulk of the production coming during the middle.
Batter of the week
Teoscar Hernández returned from the injured list on Monday and led the team in OPS and runs batted in for the week, including hitting a three-run home run off Corbin Burnes on Wednesday that provided the winning runs.
Pitcher of the week
Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched seven scoreless innings in a fantastic performance against Arizona on Tuesday, with nine strikeouts, and didn’t allow a single until the seventh inning. Yamamoto has won seven of the 10 pitcher of the week honors this season in this space.
Honorable mention to Ben Casparius, who pitched 3⅓ scoreless hitless innings with strikeouts accounting for seven of his 10 outs.

Miscellany
Relief in bulk: On Friday at Citi Field, the Dodgers and Mets tied for the longest game of the season, playing 13 innings. Because of a rain delay way back in the third inning, 15 of 16 relievers were used in the series opener. With Ben Casparius and Matt Sauer each pitching three innings and Luis García pitching the final 2⅓ innings, the Dodgers became the first MLB team of 2025 to have three relievers all get at least seven outs in the same game. It was just the second such game for the Dodgers since moving to Los Angeles in 1958. That game, on August 23, 1989 in Montreal, was a 1-0 win over the Expos that saw Alejandro Peña pitch four innings, Tim Crews pitch three innings, and John Wetteland pitch six innings to cover the final 13 frames of a 22-inning win. That game was also notable because manager Tommy Lasorda got Expos mascot Youppi! ejected.
Transactions
Monday: Teoscar Hernández was activated off the injured list after missing 12 games, and James Outman was optioned.
Tuesday: After getting designated for assignment on May 14, Austin Barnes was released.
Saturday: Bobby Miller was called up as the fresh arm, and Matt Sauer was optioned.
Sunday: Veteran pitcher Chris Stratton was signed and activated, Miller was optioned, and J.P. Feyereisen was designated for assignment.

The Dodgers run the Mel Hall gauntlet, on the road to play the Guardians before hosting the Yankees in Los Angeles. For the second weekend in a row, all three games will be exclusively on national television with no SportsNet LA telecast.
Clayton Kershaw on Wednesday will be on four days rest, but after rain limited him to just two innings on Friday it shouldn’t be as burdensome as the usual circumstances for such starts.
