The Chicago Cubs are ready to start Spring Training after a busy off-season adding to and re-tooling their roster. Going into the winter, many wondered if Chicago would spend much money in free agency. They were, though, pleasantly surprised when the Cubs came away with one of the biggest names on the market: third baseman Alex Bregman.
Of course, they also lost one of the biggest names on the market in outfielder Kyle Tucker, who signed a lucrative contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Winners of the last two World Series championships, the Dodgers are, once again, considered the favorites to win it all again because of their willingness to spend big in free agency.
But Bregman warns them and the baseball world to watch out for the Cubs.
Alex Bregman believes the Chicago Cubs are on the same level as the Los Angles Dodgers

Bregman, who signed a five-year $175 million contract with the Cubs this off-season, does not seem to believe that his new team is that far off from the high-spending Dodgers in terms of talent.
When asked if he felt Chicago had gained any ground on Los Angeles in terms of talent level during the off-season, he responded, “100 percent.”
Then he added, “One of the things that is so fun is playing October baseball. I feel like that’s why we play the game. I want to play October baseball at Wrigley.”
Bregman is coming off of a season in which he hit .273/.360/.462 with 18 home runs and 62 RBI in 114 games with the Boston Red Sox. He also made his third career All-Star Game last season.
A former Gold Glove winner at third base, Bregman fits right into a Cubs defense that boasts one of the best defensive infields in all baseball. And, as Bregman notes, October baseball in Wrigley can be magical. If/when the Cubs get to the postseason, even the high-powered Dodgers lineup will be hard-pressed to generate much offense if their pitchers can keep the ball in the park.
