TALLADEGA, Ala. (WBRC) – According to Talladega City School officials, a dugout and storage room have extensive damage after a fire.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Talladega City Schools say the dugout and storage room were located at the baseball field. Officials say it appears the dugout and the items inside sustained fire, smoke and water damage.
Officials say baseball uniforms stored inside the dugout were also damaged.
“This incident is especially difficult as it happened just days before the start of the season,” wrote officials.
According to school officials, they are moving forward with solutions, which could include adjustments to the baseball schedule as they work through recovery and restoration.
Talladega City Schools say they are extremely thankful that no injuries were reported and that they are very thankful for the swift response and support they have received.
