Opening night was a smash for Vicksburg High’s baseball team.

Ashton Harris drove in four runs, Nick Carson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and the Gators routed Raymond 15-2 in their 2026 season opener on Monday.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first inning, the Gators struck back for eight runs in the bottom half and scored seven in the second on their way to a mercy-rule victory.

Carson led off the game with a triple and scored on a passed ball, and Harris hit a two-run single three batters later. Harris singled in two more runs in the second inning and Carson hit a two-run double.

Vicksburg finished with eight hits. It drew seven walks and had six batters hit by a pitch.

Jacarey Burks, Abel Gonzalez, Kolten Thomas and Kobe Cartwright all scored two runs apiece. Carson added a triple to his double as well.

Allan Allen was 1-for-2 with a single, RBI and a run scored. He also was the winning pitcher, with nine strikeouts in a four-inning complete game.

Vicksburg will play at Warren Central Wednesday at 7 p.m., and is home against Port Gibson Thursday at 7 p.m.
